Have you been struggling to get the right Twitter header size? Welcome to the club of the many like you who bust their butt trying to get it just right.
Of course, Twitter will give you their recommendations for the best Twitter header size but things get hard considering they always cut off a bit of the image even while you follow their guidelines to the letter.
And things don’t end there.
You also need to keep in mind how the Twitter header photo will look like on different screen resolutions.
However, if this makes it seem like Twitter has lost its spark, think of the 328 million daily Twitter users and you have your answer.
Twitter has clearly not lost its charm.
We’ve all heard of how Twitter has struggled to remain relevant in the past, but now with the introduction of live streaming, GIF integrations and increase in character limit, Twitter is doing a great job at competing with the likes of Facebook and Snapchat.
Twitter and Business
Where are you thinking of using Twitter to get customers for your business?
Twitter is continuously becoming useful in the business arena. Companies are interacting with clients and learning a lot about what influences their behavior in a much more efficient manner.
In fact, well over 65% of the companies in the US are using Twitter to market their products and this number is only expected to rise.
If you are still wondering whether Twitter is good for business then this should slap some sense straight in.
- 84% of shoppers on Twitter use the platform to find product reviews. These are a major driving force in generating sales and creating conversions. The number of people shopping through Twitter makes double the purchases of non-Twitter users.
- More than 65% of Twitter users know of a small business on Twitter. 69% of that number has already made a purchase from the small business that they follow and 94% plan to make a purchase in the near future.
- Up to 79% of Twitter users who are aware of a small business have retweeted.
With that in mind, it’s not hard to see then that Twitter is here to stay, at least for the foreseeable future.
It is an excellent platform for business owners to interact with clients and tailor their services to meet the needs and expectations of the customers.
Twitter Header Size
The Twitter header photo is the first thing people see as soon as they land on your page. This is exactly why it needs to stand out from the rest.
To make this possible, it is important that you get the right Twitter header size. This will communicate a good and lasting first impression and will showcase your brand.
Remember what we said about it being difficult to achieve the best Twitter header size?
Great thing is that regardless of the challenges you are facing, it is actually possible to get the right size.
In this post, we will find out the best Twitter header size that will look good on different screen resolutions.
Lest dive straight in…
Understanding the Twitter Guidelines
It’s necessary to first understand Twitter’s own recommendations. Twitter recommends a header photo size of 1500 pixels by 500 pixels and the images can be in JPEG, GIF or PNG formats.
But there’s a problem with this…
Even after following these guidelines we found that the Twitter header photo didn’t look as good as we wanted it to. We later found out that we needed to consider both the image as well as the invisible area.
What do we mean by that?
It’s actually quite the process to ensure that the profile doesn’t interfere with the header photo. This is due to the simple fact that the profile picture changes position in relation to the cover photo depending on the resolution of the screen.
Take for example a resolution where the profile photo is at full width. As you take down the resolution, the profile picture will start to move further to the left.
To deal with such a situation, you have to leave spacing at the bottom left side of the header photo. Otherwise, you will end up leaving some elements of your Twitter header blocked out.
So, the key point to note here is, with the 1500px by 500px Twitter header size, ensure there is space available at the top and bottom which will eventually be cut off once you upload.
- Take the recommended 1500px by 500px Twitter header size.
- Ensure you’ve left space on the top and bottom of your header photo.
- Also, leave space on the bottom left side to handle different screen resolutions.
